Chief Nursing Officer

I am pleased to introduce you to the Kaplen Institute for Nursing Excellence at Englewood Health. The Kaplen Institute for Nursing Excellence encompasses nursing practice, professional development, research, and all nursing activities at the Magnet-recognized Englewood Hospital.

Every day, our nurses have a profound impact on patients, their families, and our community. This is reflected in the fact that our Englewood Hospital nurses have been recognized by the Magnet Recognition Program® from the American Nurses Credentialing Center five consecutive times since 2002. We are proud to be among the less than 10 percent of hospitals in the nation to hold this recognition for quality patient care, nursing excellence, and innovations in professional nursing practice.

It’s a very dynamic, exciting time for us in nursing at Englewood Hospital. In early 2024 we launched an updated strategic plan for nursing. Our strategic plan, which is framed by our professional practice model and based on feedback from our team members, is built on shared goals and mutual trust.

Over the past several years, we have launched many initiatives to fulfill our strategic plan and provide an exceptional workplace environment where our team members have access and opportunity to professional development to support their goals.

Throughout our patient care services, especially in nursing, we foster a culture of leadership and professional growth to provide outstanding patient safety and evidence-based care. We have witnessed tremendous growth in our nurses taking on leadership roles, from chairing unit-based teams and councils, mentoring, and precepting, to seeking career growth opportunities at Englewood Health. Nursing is an ever-evolving profession and as caregivers, it is our duty to change and advance along with the profession and with healthcare.

As the chief nursing officer, I am committed to empowering our nurses to take charge of their professional growth and achieve their personal professional goals. If you are a nurse interested in being part of our nursing team, we encourage you to read on to learn more about our nursing philosophy, practice environment, PTAP-accredited nurse residency program for new nurses, and career opportunities.
