Englewood Health Emergency Medical Services Nationally Recognized for Heart Attack & Stroke Care
July 25, 2023 — Englewood Health’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold achievement award for its rapid, research-based care for people experiencing the most severe forms of heart attack and stroke.
The Gold achievement award focuses on Englewood Health’s superior on-scene care, bringing to the forefront the lifesaving work of the health system’s prehospital providers. Englewood Health’s EMS team begins treatment immediately upon arrival on scene and are highly trained to provide resuscitation efforts to someone whose heart has stopped.
The health system is also being recognized with the Mission: Lifeline System of Care Target: Heart Attack award. This award highlights the collaboration of Englewood Health’s prehospital and hospital providers in providing time-critical care for heart attack patients.
“Englewood Health is honored to be recognized by the American Heart Association for our dedication to providing optimal care for both heart attack and stroke patients,” said Richard Sposa, MA, NRP, MICP, director of EMS at Englewood Health.
Barbara Schreibman, MD, medical director of EMS and associate chief of emergency medicine at Englewood Health adds, “The Mission: Lifeline program puts proven knowledge and guidelines to work daily. The coordination between our EMS and in-hospital team members is a vital component of patients having the best possible chance of survival.”
