Welcome from the Director

Tanganyika Barnes, DO, FACP
Residency Program Director
Welcome to the Englewood Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program webpage. I am delighted that you’ve chosen to learn more about our program. At the forefront of any hospital’s success is the delivery of excellent care to the patients it serves. As a residency program, our success is also measured through the growth, achievements and well-being of our trainees.
Here at Englewood, we take pride in providing our residents with outstanding clinical training in a supportive environment that balances autonomy with supervision. Our faculty are deeply committed to mentorship, career counseling, and fostering a culture where residents feel both challenged and supported. We strive to create a community that feels like family—a place where trainees can find listening ears, shoulders to lean on, and a team ready to celebrate their accomplishments.
We also recognize that our residents bring with them a diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and lived experiences. This diversity is one of our greatest strengths, enriching our learning environment and strengthening the care we provide to our patients. We are committed to cultivating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere where every resident feels valued, respected and empowered to thrive.
Our program’s success is a direct reflection of our extraordinary residents and the dedicated faculty who support them. We take pride in maintaining open doors and listening to feedback so that we can continually evolve and meet the needs of our learners, while staying true to the mission of our program.
